Join the Diversified Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada for our Intercultural Communication and Diversity for Professionals course. Our focus is to help delegates build intercultural communication skills through the development and understanding of cultural competencies. This course is aimed at cross-sector professionals, including lawyers and ADR practitioners.
The course will cover topics that help practitioners build cultural awareness and help facilitate intercultural relationships. We will take a deep dive into our biases and how they affect our daily lives and decision-making processes in our ADR practices and workplaces. The course will provide plenty of tools to help you successfully manage intercultural communication and considerations when building solutions for clients.

All participants will receive a “Intercultural Communication and Diversity for Professionals” certificate, and a 12-hour credits toward their A.D.F. accreditation (Accredited Diversity Facilitator*)
Afsana Gibson-Chowdhury BA (Hons.), Q.Med, Barrister & Solicitor
Afsana is a designated qualified mediator and OMMP roster mediator in Toronto. She is a British-trained lawyer and the founder of Gibson Chowdhury, a mediation boutique, specializing in residential construction/renovation, civil and commercial mediation. Afsana is an Adjudicator for the Property Standards Committee in the City of Toronto and co-founder and Senior Vice President of DDRIOC. She brings a wealth of knowledge and tools in dispute resolution and has written several programs and training courses on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Kayla Stephenson, Mediator, Arbitrator, Adjudicator
Kayla is a Mediator/Arbitrator with a specialty in Family Law and an Adjudicator. Kayla brings a plethora of knowledge, training and skills and lived experience in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion from Osgoode Law School Professional Development and an Anti-Black Racism Certificate from York University. Kayla is also involved in many activities within the legal community regarding anti -racism and anti -oppression.
*The A.D.F is an accreditation that is only offered through the Diversified Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada. It requires 28 learning hours, plus 8 hours of Continued Education in Diversity (CED) each calendar year.
